P-plater has dad's car impounded

A P-plate driver has had his father's car impounded after allegedly driving 60km over the speed limit yesterday.

The 18-year-old man of Millbridge, near Bunbury, has been charged with reckless driving after he was recorded as travelling nearly 60km over the 80km limit.

A police spokeswoman said officers were on speed detection duties on Forrest Highway and Eaton Drive in Easton just after 5pm when then they allegedly spotted a Holden Commodore speeding.

"Due to the heavy traffic, officers were unable to stop the vehicle but obtained the registration and attended the owner’s home a short time later," the spokeswoman said.

"It will be alleged that the 18 year old man of Millbridge was driving his father’s vehicle at the time."

The car was seized and the man will appear in court at a later date.
