Charges laid after car hits house

A 23-year-old man who allegedly crashed a car into a house on Monday has been charged with a string of offences, including assault.

Police allege the Thornlie man was driving a Holden Commodore east along Yangebup Road in Yangebup when he lost control of the car at the roundabout on Miguel and Yangebup roads at 12.45pm on Monday.

The car left the road and crashed through a fence before hitting the house, it is alleged.

Those inside the house escaped injury, but “considerable” structural damage was caused to the property, police said.

The driver and his 17-year-old female passenger suffered minor injuries in the crash.

The man has been charged with having no authority to drive, failing to stop when called upon to do so, assault and reckless driving.

He is due to appear in Fremantle Magistrate’s Court on August 15.
