Controversial US comedian Chelsea Handler has announced a tour of Australia.

The outspoken talk-show host will bring her live stand-up show, Uganda Be Kidding Me, Down Under later this year, with a stop at Perth Concert Hall on November 23.

Handler recently announced she would be stepping down from her popular talk show, Chelsea Lately, and has since signed with Netflix to produce comedy specials and a talk show from 2016.

She had previously been the only female host in the late-night arena and was featured in TIME Magazine's 100 Most Influential People list in 2012.

The Uganda Be Kidding Me tour will be in support of her fifth book of the same name.

"I've decided to go on tour and support my new book," Handler said. "I think we all know how much I love the sound of my own voice."

Pre-sale tickets are available through Live Nation from 9am on Wednesday, with general tickets going on sale through Ticketek from 9am on Friday.
