Man charged in online child sex sting

A man who allegedly advertised online for schoolgirls willing to have sex for money has been charged after trying to meet a person he believed was a 13-year-old girl.

An officer from the Online Child Exploitation Squad posing as a 13-year-old girl contacted the man after he placed an advertisement on an online website.

The 'girl' chatted with the 33-year-old Nedlands man and arranged to meet in the city on Friday, May 30.

Police arrested him when he showed up for the meeting.

He has been charged with two counts each of using electronic communication to procure a person believed to be aged under 16 to engage in sexual activity and using electronic communication to expose a person believed to be aged under 16 to indecent matter.

He is due to appear in Perth Magistrates Court on June 10.
