Fishing knife allegedly used in robbery

A 33-year-old man will face court today after he allegedly held up a West Busselton deli and liquor store with a large fishing knife.

Police allege the man entered The Corner Store on Bussell Highway just after 8pm last night before demanding cash from the store attendant.

When the employee refused the man allegedly ran next door to Cape Cellars and again threatened staff with the 30cm knife.

Police allege that he was given a sum of money and then was seen jumping the fence of a nearby chiropractor’s office before police located him a short time later.

The West Busselton resident has been charged with aggravated attempted armed robbery, aggravated armed robbery and going armed to cause fear.

He has been refused bail and will appear in the Bunbury Magistrates Court today.
