Students to re-sit exam

Some Year 10 students will have to re-sit a new Statewide literacy and numeracy test because of technical glitches.

School Curriculum and Standards Authority chief executive Allan Blagaich said a number of schools reported power blackouts, loss of internet connection or school server failure when the Online Literacy and Numeracy Assessment was held for the first time this month.

On the first of 10 days of assessments a Telstra internet outage in the South West resulted in a number of schools losing internet services in the afternoon.

The authority also identified a problem at seven schools related to students sharing the same computer network log-ins instead of having their own.

Mr Blagaich said any student who experienced problems was given the option to continue or re-start the test if that was possible, or to complete it later this year.
