Police dog sniffs out Eden Hill pursuit suspect

Police dog Bobbie sniffed out a 44-year-old man who allegedly led police on a car chase through Perth’s eastern suburbs last night.

About 10.30pm, officers were on patrol in Eden Hill when they allegedly tried to stop a Holden Commodore sedan.

A police spokesman said the driver sped away from officers, who allegedly lost sight of the Commodore after it crossed Walter Road East.

He said the car was then found abandoned after a crash on Hardaker Street.

“Police Dog Bobbie was deployed and a scent was tracked through a number of streets, back around to Second Avenue,” the spokesman said.

“A 44-year-old man was located inside a house on Second Avenue.”

The man was arrested and charged with reckless driving and failing to stop in circumstances of aggravation.
