Speeding, drink-driving in school zone

A 40-year-old Balcatta man caught speeding and drink-driving in a school zone has been fined $650 and banned from driving for eight months.

Michael James MacGraw appeared in Joondalup Magistrate's Court yesterday on charges of speeding and driving with a blood alcohol content above 0.08.

Mr MacGraw was clocked at 55km/h in a 40km/h school zone near Warwick Senior High School just before 8am on Monday, February 3, the first day of the school year.

Police took Mr MacGraw to Warwick police station where he recorded a blood alcohol reading of 0.118.
