Chances help NSW but WA holds lead
Ryan Carters survived two chances off the bowling of young spinner Ashton Agar as NSW worked hard to take a lead against Western Australia.
Carters was put down by Ryan Duffield at point and Agar off his own bowling, both at 29, before steering the Blues to 4-102 at stumps on the third day of the match at the WACA Ground.
Carters continued his superb season that has already brought three centuries by batting for nearly three hours in reaching 32 not out.
Captain Peter Nevill was seven not out.
NSW still trail by 16 runs and will need to bat until well into the second session to avoid giving WA outright points.
Jason Behrendorff followed up his five-wicket haul in the first innings by claiming three more wickets after NSW started their innings 118 runs in arrears.
Opener Nic Maddinson provided a sharp return catch at 15 while Ben Rohrer (35) and Kurtis Patterson (nought) were both dismissed at 87 as the Warriors took control of the match.
Patterson was well caught by Duffield at fine leg from an errant hook shot as fieldsman Marcus Harris and wicket-keeper Sam Whiteman converged on the ball.
WA’s fastest bowler was again Mitch Marsh who claimed Scott Henry caught behind for 10.
