Man in hospital after being tasered

A man in his 30s was taken to hospital after he was tasered by a police officer in Northbridge this morning.

A police spokeswoman said officers saw the man walking along Francis Street just before 6am, allegedly smashing beer bottles against a wall near the Australian Taxation Office.

She said the man did not comply with their commands and continued to break bottles, holding the glass in a threatening manner.

An officer then tasered the man, who fell backwards and struck his head on a wall.

He was taken to Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital for treatment to non-life threatening injuries.
