Man wanted for 'divorcing wife without her knowledge'

A woman has found her husband allegedly divorced her without her knowledge.

Officers were called to the woman’s residence in Texas on May 14 after she discovered she was now her husband’s ex-wife, Harris County police say.

After authorities investigated the situation they found 51-year-old Paul Nixon had allegedly forged his wife's signature and faked a notary's approval, filing the paperwork on February 15.

Eventually in April a judge signed a divorce order, legally dissolving the marriage.

Nixon is now a wanted man accused of aggravated forgery.

Police filed a motion to vacate the divorce order, essentially reinstating Nixon's marriage to his wife.

Nixon now faces up to 10 years in prison if he is found and convicted.

As far as his marriage goes, no new divorce proceedings have been filed.
