Teen suffers shocking injuries after 'bike is thrown at her'

WARNING - GRAPHIC CONTENT: A teenage girl is recovering in hospital with a broken leg after she says a bike was thrown at her while riding on the back of a friend’s motorbike.

Maddy Charles, 17, was on the back of a motorbike being driven by her 16-year-old friend on Tuesday afternoon in Kalgoorlie, Western Australia.

She said the pair were travelling down Johnston Street just before 5pm when from the side of the road, a boy flung the bike towards them just before they reached Blackall Place.

“As soon as it hit me, my leg just started hanging and I started shouting and screaming,” Ms Charles told Yahoo News Australia.

“This pain was so horrible, probably worse than birth.”

She said her friend rushed her home before she was taken to hospital, where she was expected to stay for the next couple of days recovering from a badly broken tibia.

“As I dropped down to the ground they carried me inside the house then drove me to the hospital,” she said.

The BMX bike didn't touch the motorbike, but the teenager said it hit her leg “really hard”.

She appealed to the public on Wednesday morning asking if anyone was in the area and saw the incident some time between 4.45pm and 5pm on Tuesday.

The incident has been reported to police.
