‘Cracker’: Sydney house with private beach sells $1.85m above reserve
A house in Sydney’s coveted Burraneer Bay with its own private beach has sold for nearly $2 million above its reserve, going under the hammer for a whopping $7.1 million.
The four bedroom home was set to sell for $5.25 million over the weekend, with 10 buyers registered to bid, but managed to fetch a further $1.85 million on top, according to Realestate.com.
The staggering price tag set a new record for a single dwelling property in the Shire.
Sitting on a sprawling 1,382-square metres, the home boasts a swimming pool, boat shed, jetty - and of course, a private beach.
Targeted to “executive families”, the home also included a detached dwelling with parking that could be used as an office or home practice - or just a fifth bedroom.
“It was a cracker auction,” auctioneer Andrew Cooley told Realestate.
“These types of properties are rare and there was a lot of interest.”
The home was in good condition, but many bidders were renovators, planning to knock down and rebuild or renovate.
It was the first time the home had traded hands in 50 years.
