Sheffield United will look to finish their first season back in the Premier League in style against Southampton on Sunday.

Two defeats on the bounce means the Blades are no longer in contention for Europa League qualification but can still finish as high as eighth after a wonderful campaign under Chris Wilder.

Southampton were just above the relegation zone following a 9-0 hammering against Leicester last October but are now guaranteed to finish the season in at least 12th place – with Danny Ings’ 21 league goals playing a pivotal role.

Ings is still part of a final day battle for the Golden Boot – with Jamie Vardy leading the race with 23 to his name.

Date, time and venue

Southampton vs Sheffield United is scheduled for a 4pm BST kick-off on Sunday, July 26, 2020.

The match will be played behind closed doors at St Mary's with no fans due to be present due to government guidelines regarding coronavirus.

How to watch

TV channel: The match will be shown live on Sky Sports Mix, and is available via Now TV with a day pass for £9.99, or a three-month pass on offer for £25.

Live stream: Sky Sports subscribers can stream the match online via SkyGo and the SkyGo app, with a mobile month pass available for £5.99.

Team news

Southampton have no new injury worries for their final game of the season.

Jan Bednarek is back in training after missing the win over Bournemouth due to a minor muscle injury.

Yan Valery has also returned to training following his own muscle problem but Moussa Djenepo (calf) and Sofiane Boufal (thigh) remain sidelined.

Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder will assess several players before deciding on his line-up.

Wilder has no major new injury concerns, but several unnamed players are carrying knocks and will be assessed.

Midfielder John Fleck stepped off the bench in Monday's home defeat to Everton after a groin injury and is pushing for a recall to the starting XI.

Southampton provisional squad: McCarthy, Gunn, Lewis, Walker-Peters, Stephens, Bednarek, Vestergaard, Danso, Bertrand, Vokins, Romeu, Maddox, Ward-Prowse, Armstrong, Hojbjerg, Smallbone, Jankewitz, Ferry, Redmond, Tella, Long, Ings, Adams, Obafemi, Valery.

Sheffield United provisional squad: Henderson, Baldock, Stevens, O'Connell, Basham, McBurnie, Egan, Norwood, McGoldrick, Osborn, Berge, Zivkovic, Sharp, Lundstram, Fleck, Jagielka, Freeman, Robinson, Clarke, Moore.
