'She could do it all': Teen fatally struck by Lamborghini outside restaurant identified
Friends have paid tribute to a 15-year-old high-achieving Adelaide schoolgirl who was killed when a Lamborghini driver lost control and crashed on Saturday night.
The girl died, while another teen was seriously hurt when the luxury vehicle mounted the kerb and hit the pedestrians on the footpath at Glengowrie in the city’s southwest.
The car then crashed into a Chinese restaurant.
Those who knew the young victim, identified by ABC News as Sophia Naismith, of Seaview Downs, visited the crash scene on Sunday to pay their respects.
Daisy Page, 16, who went to school with Sophia, described her as “the most caring, nicest girl ever”.
She said Sophia and the other teenager injured in the crash were best friends who went everywhere together.
“They were just the nicest girls,” Daisy told the Adelaide Advertiser.
“They always put other people before themselves. [They were] really caring, funny and really good at everything.”
Chloe Bramley, 15, who played netball with Sophia, told the Advertiser her teammate excelled at many other sports as well, including soccer and volleyball.
She said her talented friend was too a high achiever at school.
“She could do it all,” Chloe said.
Autumn Skehan wrote on Sophia’s Instagram page: “Forever a light in everybody’s life, sending all my love to all family and friends. rest easy gorgeous girl.”
The 15-year-old friend was lucky to escape and taken to hospital where she is in a stable condition.
The 37-year-old driver has been charged with driving dangerously causing death and injury and will appear in Adelaide Magistrates Court on July 31.
