Skydivers miraculously escape death after parachutes tangle mid-air

Two skydivers have escaped death after their parachutes became tangled as a mid-air manoeuvre went wrong at 2000 metres on the Gold Coast.

The pair were among four skydivers from Qatar filmed plummeting above Runaway Bay in exclusive video obtained by Seven News.

The four descend in a diamond formation but it soon goes wrong.

Luckily, the experienced skydivers called on their training and used reserve chutes to slow their descent after cutting their tangled parachutes free.

Mansoor Alkarbi, one of the skydivers, said he and one of the others had a collision.

“In this collision we cannot fix, we have to remove,” he said.

They had to gain safe distance before opening the reserve chutes.

Mr Alkarbi added the pair had enough time to correct the problem and had practised what to do.

“If you know how to fix the problem you will not get nervous,” he said.

The incident hasn’t deterred the experienced skydrivers.

They’ll still be jumping in the World Parachuting Championships on the Gold Coast on Sunday.
