Single winner scores ENTIRE $80 million Powerball jackpot

Another lucky Australian has become the second person this week to become an instant multi-millionaire – this time scoring a massive $80 million through Thursday night’s Powerball.

The winning numbers needed in draw 1260 were 33, 2, 32, 31, 28, 21 and 26, with the all-important Powerball of 12.

The winner is from Victoria but their identity is yet to be revealed.

“Someone in Victoria could be completely unaware that their life has changed forever, scoring the mouth-watering $80 million jackpot in tonight’s Powerball draw,” The Lott spokesperson Bronwyn Spencer said.

“We are encouraging all Victorian players to check their entries online, via the Lott website or app, or if you choose to visit a store, please practice social distancing. We can’t wait to unite this player with their prize!”

The $80 million prize pool is only the seventh time in the game’s 24-year history that such a massive jackpot has been up for grabs.

The previous five draws had no division one winners - but did have 10 division two winners that were just one number off the jackpot.

Lotterywest expected tickets to be sold at a rate of 500 tickets per minute in the hours before the $80m draw.

It comes in the same week as a Sydney woman’s lucky $50 million Oz Lotto win.

The unidentified woman said she felt like she was “going to have a heart attack” at hearing the news.

“You won’t believe this. This is the first lottery ticket I’ve ever bought in my life,” she said.

“I’ve never played Oz Lotto before. I walked past the newsagency and thought it would be a bit of fun to enter, so I did!”
