'I'm going to have a heart attack': Woman's shock at winning $50m Oz Lotto jackpot

A woman in North Sydney has won an incredible $50 million Oz Lotto jackpot prize with the first ticket she’d ever purchased.

She said she believed she was going to have a heart attack upon learning of the amazing news after checking her winning ticket online.

“Sh*t. Okay. Thank you so much,” she told an official from the Lott on Thursday morning.

“We’ve been on holidays in Sussex Inlet and my friend called me just before and said to me ‘I think the newsagency you bought your Oz Lotto ticket from sold the $50 million winning entry’,” she said.

“I can’t believe it. I’m shaking. Jesus Christ. This is incredible!

“I feel like I could have a heart attack!”

She thanked “beginner’s luck” for her life-changing $50 million windfall.

“You won’t believe this. This is the first lottery ticket I’ve ever bought in my life,” she explained.

“I’ve never played Oz Lotto before. I walked past the newsagency and thought it would be a bit of fun to enter, so I did!”

The North Sydney resident she was struggling to come to terms with the news and will take some time to decide how to enjoy the hefty prize.

“I have no idea right now,” she laughed.

“I’m still just so shocked. I think I will be so shocked for a long time,” she said, adding that she’ll continue to work.

The woman purchased the winning entry at the Inlet Newsagency in Sussex Inlet, south of Sydney near Nowra.

Owner Dimitrios Spyrakis said the town had been abuzz after the exciting news.

“It’s all everyone is talking about here! It’s fantastic news for our community.

“It’s incredible to know we’ve played a part in changing this woman’s life.”
