Sickening moment tradie knocked unconscious by one-punch attack

A Perth tradie has survived a vicious one-punch attack that knocked him unconscious.

He wants to share video of the sickening moment his head slammed into a footpath after being attacked by a teenage gang in Northbridge in the early hours after Australia Day.

His attackers showed no sign of remorse, even cheering as their victim’s head bounces off the concrete.

The 22-year-old victim says he’s surprised he’s alive and thinks he only survived because he landed on his side.

His shoulder broke his fall, which is why his skull didn’t receive the full impact.

“He just dropped, he hit the floor,” the victim’s friend Andrew said.

Both men were repeatedly punched. They don’t want to show their faces because the gang is still on the streets and they say they are worried about retaliation.

“Really do not understand why someone would want to do that,” the victim said.

“It’s cowardly.”

The pair are grateful that someone recorded the incident on their phone, because they were able to show it to police, who are investigating.

What they can’t understand is why no-one stepped in to help when they were clearly in danger and outnumbered.

The attack occurred around 1.30am on January 27 in Perth’s entertainment precinct.

The men say the teenagers blocked the entrance to the city train station and then followed them before they started throwing punches.

The gang got away with a limited edition pair of trainers worth $400 and an iPhone.

They have yet to be caught. Anyone with information is encouraged to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or use the Crime Stoppers online reporting page.
