'Shock jock' radio host and anti-vaxxer dies from Covid

A radio host from Florida, who labelled Covid-19 a 'scamdemic' and called the vaccinations 'bogus bull shid' [sic] has died, age 65.

Dick Farrel often spoke out against the vaccine and the Chief of the US National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease, Dr. Anthony Fauci, calling him a "power tripping lying freak."

"Vaccine Bogus Bull Shid!, Two peeps I know, got vaxed, now have Corona, hospitalized critical," he wrote on Facebook on July 1. "Thank you Moderna, FOR NOTHING!"

"Why take a vax promoted by people who lied 2u all along about masks, where the virus came from and the death toll?" Mr Farrel posted on July 3.

Facebook posts show that the radio host also was a strong supporter of the former president of the United States Donald Trump.

Urged friends to get vaccinated

Mr Farrel died on Wednesday, local time. According to local news station West Palm Beach News, he urged friends and family to get the vaccination after contracting the virus three weeks prior.

“COVID took one of my best friends! RIP Dick Farrel. He is the reason I took the shot,” Mr Farrel’s close friend Amy Leigh Hair wrote on Facebook. “He texted me and told me to ‘Get it!’ He told me this virus is no joke and he said, ‘I wish I had gotten it!’”

According to several sources, Mr Farrel’s longtime partner, Kit Farley, wrote on Facebook that his death was "so unexpected".

"He will be missed," she said.
