Victoria's Covid cluster grows amid hospital scare

Victoria has seen another increase in Covid cases, as the state enters its fourth full day of lockdown.

There were 11 new locally-acquired Covid-19 cases reported in the past 24 hours, the Department of Health said, with over 38,987 tests carried out.

"The 11 new locally-acquired cases are all linked, and one has been in quarantine throughout their infectious period," the department said on Monday morning.

It comes as a women's and children's hospital in Melbourne's northwest is among a growing list of exposure sites linked to the state's latest coronavirus outbreak.

The Joan Kirner Women's and Children's Hospital in St Albans was listed as an exposure site on Sunday night, after a person infected with coronavirus visited on Friday.

The Maternity Assessment Centre on level three and Dorevitch Pathology on the ground floor have been listed as tier-one exposure sites.

Anyone who visited the facilities between 8.15am and 2.45pm and 9.05am and 9.50am respectively required to get tested immediately and then isolate for 14 days.

The cafe in the main corridor has been listed as a tier-two exposure site between 9:20am and 9:50am, with anyone who visited required to get tested and isolate until they receive a negative result.

All other visitors to the Joan Kirner Women's and Children's Hospital between 8.15 and 2.45pm on Friday must monitor for symptoms.

There are now over 170 exposure sites in Victoria, the full list can be found here.

The state is currently in its sixth lockdown, which was announced last Thursday, after fresh unlinked Covid cases were identified in the community.

The fifth lockdown ended at the end of July.

Much of Australia is now in lockdown, due to the unrelenting spread of the Delta variant.

Australia's first drive-thru vaccination clinic to open

A former Bunnings Warehouse in Melton is set to become Australia's first drive-thru vaccination clinic.

It is expected the facility will be able to administer 10,000 vaccines doses a week once it opens and there are hopes more drive-thru hubs will open in the future.

"It will complement existing state vaccination centres and general practices that are participating in the Commonwealth vaccination program," a statement released by Premier Daniel Andres says.

"Careful planning has been undertaken to account for the logistical differences between walk-in and drive-through clinics and follows detailed advice from ATAGI at the request of the National COVID Vaccine Taskforce."
