'Full of love': Scott Morrison posts touching tribute after his dad dies
Scott Morrison has paid tribute to his “much loved” dad John who died “peacefully” overnight.
The prime minister said his 84-year-old father “lived a great life” full of “love, faith, duty and service”, in a post to Facebook on Thursday afternoon.
“He was a loving husband to my mum Marion for 57 years. He was a wonderful father to me and my brother Alan. He loved Jen as a daughter and was a devoted grandfather to our girls,” Mr Morrison wrote.
“Dad served in the Army as part of his National Service, he was a dedicated member and officer in the NSW Police Force for his entire career, he served his local community as a Councillor and Mayor and many other roles, and he served faithfully in his church throughout his entire life as an elder, youth worker and in aged care.”

Mr Morrison said his dad had “a deep and committed Christian faith” which was one of “numerous legacies” he had imparted on his life.
“Our family will miss him terribly, but we are extremely thankful for his great blessing in all of our lives,” he wrote.
“Love you Dad and well done good and faithful servant.”
Mr Morrison also shared several photos of himself with his late dad, including a selfie of the two together, and of his dad and mum Marion with Mr Morrison’s wife Jenny and two daughters Abby and Lily.
Condolences were quick to flood in, with supporters expressing their sadness for the family and respect for the professionalism the prime minister had shown earlier in the day while delivering a press conference.
He addressed media to speak about the deadly Coronaviruses outbreak, the Canberra bushfires and the future career of Nationals deputy Bridget McKenzie.
