'Everything was shaking': Debate over 'earthquake in South Australia overnight'
South Australian residents were woken to what they thought was an earthquake this morning but authorities say no quake was detected.
Geoscience Australia confirmed it had received more than 800 reports of “earth noises and shaking” in Adelaide between 2-2.30am Australian Central Standard Time on Saturday.
The agency initially reported a 1.4 magnitude quake had been "reportedly felt", around Mount Compass, south of Adelaide.
But GA has since removed the report from its website and told its Twitter followers, "no earthquake has been detected".
It's left Twitter users scratching their heads as to what the shaking was.
So what was it?? Didn't sound like thunder..... the plot thickens.

“Everything was shaking and a grumble came and went. I thought maybe air force planes or an earthquake,” Sally Ella tweeted.
Geoscience Australia believes it was “most likely large thunder claps” as it was “not seen widely on seismometers”.
