Adelaide bomb scare accused was once shot by police after wild car chase
The man charged over Saturday’s bomb scare at Elizabeth in Adelaide’s northern suburbs has been previously shot by police, 7 News can reveal.
Ten years on Dennis Childs is back behind bars but some who know him say he should never have been released in the first.
The 29 year old was wheeled in hospital with gunshot woulds to his stomach and leg.
He had been shot by STAR Group officers after a dramatic police chase through the northern suburbs.
He was sentenced to six-and-a-half years jail but was released on parole after less then three.
To this day, Childs still brags about the incident online.

“He talks about all sorts of stuff,” an acquaintance identified as Cory said.
“He’s not real stable.
“He shouldn’t have been released the last time.”
He is now back behind bars, accused of taking a homemade gun and pipe bomb to the Elizabeth Shopping Centre.
His lengthy criminal history could explain why police took no chances on Saturday.
He was already wanted but 7 News cannot reveal why for legal reasons.
The 2006 incident sparked a police commissioner’s inquiry.
The report has never been made public but the judge who sentenced child at the time said no criticism could be made of the officers who shot him.
