Video captures boaties 'harassing' great white
A video has been posted online, which appears to show a group of fishermen harassing a great white shark off the coast of South Australia.
Fisheries officers are now working to identify those involved.
This vision captures the boaties dangling bait over the edge of their vessel to lure the shark to their boat.
The group can be heard laughing throughout the video as the white pointer circles the food.
At one point it jumps and out of the water to devour the bait.
It's believed the video was filmed near Port Augusta.
Benn Gramola from the SA Fisheries Department said, "It's an offence for people to interfere with a protected species.
"They are protected for a reason so we encourage people not to interfere with them and stay away from them."
People who are caught interfering with a shark face a penalty of up to $10,000.
But local fishermen believe it is an overreaction.
Aaron Morgan said, "Oh mate you just live for those times you are able to see one in its natural environment.
"They weren't hunting the animal, if anything the shark was hunting them."
