A man accused of murdering a Sydney woman whose body was found in an Adelaide hotel room on New Year's Day, has been remanded in custody and will apply for bail next week.

Chungaung Piao, 27, was reportedly arrested on Saturday night and charged with the 25-year-old's murder.

Fairfax media reports the accused is a married father from Allenby Gardens and the victim is a sex worker from Sydney, Ting Fang.

Her body was found at the Grand Chancellor Hotel in the city centre on New Year's Day.

Police at the time said she had been in Adelaide for three or four days.

The court heard that Ms Fang's throat had been slashed in her hotel room and police would allege a fingerprint of the accused was found at the scene, according to Fairfax media.

Multiple sources say the accused's lawyer said his client has denied involvement in the incident.

The accused will apply for bail next Monday.
