Royal visit to Elizabeth
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have been praised for their down to earth nature on their fleeting visit to Adelaide.
The royal couple spent less than three hours at Elizabeth, in Adelaide’s northern suburbs, but with the looming closure of Holden, locals said it is just the boost they needed.
Kate stole the show wearing a pink Alexander McQueen outfit as fans rolled out the welcome mat for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
The couple visited Northern Sound System, a community music centre, where a lucky few were chosen to showcase their skills for the royal couple.
William and Kate even got into the spirit, with both trying their hand as DJ on the turntables.
Young skaters were also on hand at the skate park outside to show off their talents.
They even presented the royal couple with a skateboard for baby George.
Prince William added his touches to a spray painted mural nearby before heading to the Playford Civic Centre.
There he and his wife officially unveiled the Prince George Plaza - named after their son - before moving inside for a reception hosted by Governor Kevin Scarce.
Upon leaving the Civic Centre, Prince William took a moment to chat with 100-year-old Monica, who had been spotted with a sign saying she had not yet received her letter from the Queens, but a meeting with the prince would suffice.
The couple spent less than three hours in Elizabeth, but the visit will leave a lasting legacy.
“It really was a showcase of the energy and talents of the young people of the northern suburbs,” Playford Mayor Glenn Docherty said.
