Royal wedding guest list: Who have Meghan and Harry invited?

With the royal wedding just hours away, the wait is nearly over to see who will be among the invited guests.

Since Kensington Palace first announced the engagement of Prince Harry to American actress Meghan Markle in November last year, there has been ongoing speculation as to who would be lucky enough to receive a call-up to their big day.

Some 600 guests have received invitations to attend the ceremony at St George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle, however the palace has remained tight-lipped as to who is on the guest list.

Harry and Markle will also celebrate with some 200 guests at a private evening reception given by Prince Charles at Frogmore House, a royal mansion near Windsor Castle. A further 2,640 members of the public have been invited to attend the grounds of Windsor Castle for the wedding.

While the key family members were always guaranteed a seat in the church, it was Harry’s older brother, Prince William, who was among the first to be locked in after the Duke of Cambridge added best man to his list of titles.

The Queen, who officially gave her consent to the marriage, will also be in attendance alongside Prince Charles, Camilla Parker Bowles, Kate Middleton and a host of royal relatives.

Prince Philip is also likely to attend despite the 96-year-old undergoing hip replacement surgery last month.

The Duchess of York, Sarah ‘Fergie’ Ferguson, is understood to have received an invitation to the wedding but is said to be “deeply unhappy” about being snubbed for the private reception.

Fergie’s daughters, Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, however have reportedly received invitations to both.

Local media has reported that Lady Amelia Windsor, Harry’s cousin, has reportedly been left off the guest list altogether. The Sun said she and her older sister Lady Marina Windsor, 25, were shocked to be left off the list.

Prince George and Princess Charlotte will have prominent roles in today’s royal wedding.

Kensington Palace said Wednesday that four-year-old George will be a page boy and three-year-old Charlotte will be a bridesmaid at the wedding, however their new brother, Prince Louis, who was born last month, will not be attending.

The palace says there will be six bridesmaids ranging from two to seven-years-old and four page boys, ranging from four to seven.

Meghan’s god daughters Remi Litt, 6, and Rylan Litt, 7, will also form part of Meghan’s young bridal party.

Diana’s family

It’s understood Harry has invited a small group of family from his mother’s side, including her brother, Earl Charles Spencer and her two sisters Lady Sarah McCorquodale and Lady Jane Fellowes, with the latter expected to give a reading during the service.

Meghan’s father, Thomas Markle, has dominated headlines in the week leading up to his daughter’s wedding with a ‘will he, won’t he’ attend scenario.

But on Thursday (local time), the royal bride-to-be ended days of speculation, confirming her father will not be able to attend her wedding to Prince Harry due to health problems

“Sadly, my father will not be attending our wedding,” Markle said in a statement released by Kensington Palace. “I have always cared for my father and hope he can be given the space he needs to focus on his health.”

Meghan’s mother, Doria Ragland, is expected to attend and is now considered a strong chance to walk her daughter down the aisle.

Most of Meghan’s family on her dad’s side, including her half-sister, half-brother and nephews did not receive the call up though.

Her closest friend and prominent Canadian fashion stylist Jessica Mulroney will be at the wedding alongside her three children who all have their own roles to play.

The Toronto based stylist’s daughter, Jessica, will be one of Meghan’s bridesmaids, while her twin sons, Brian and John, will be page boys.

Meghan’s former Suits co-stars and their families have been spotted descending on Europe in recent days.

Jacinda Barrett, who is married to leading man Gabriel Macht, AKA Harvey Specter, spent Mother’s Day in London with her children ahead of the wedding.

One week earlier she sent Suits fans into overdrive when she shared a photo of herself trying on outfits, with the caption “getting ready to fly to Europe, got places to go and people to see, but still deciding what to wear”.

Sarah Rafferty, who plays Donna Paulsen, has also shared snaps of herself after touching down in Paris.

Meghan’s on-screen husband Michael Ross, played by Patrick Adams, is also expected to be in attendance.

There has been strong speculation that both Ed Sheeran and Elton John, will not only attend but also perform.

While speaking on a reality TV show, former Spice GIrl Mel B caused the hosts to erupt when she told them “yeah I’m going” before adding that she’d be joined by the “five Spice Girls”.

Rumours of a reunion performance have been in overdrive since that interview, however local media has reported that not every one of the band members received the call up.

Victoria Beckham was already expected to attend alongside husband David Beckham after the pair attended Prince William’s wedding to Kate Middleton in 2011.

Angelina Jolie touched down in London on Friday, sending the rumour mill into overdrive that the actress may be attending the wedding.

She was pictured at Heathrow Airport with children Shiloh, 11, and nine-year-old Knox and a car boot-full of Louis Vuitton luggage.

Tennis star Serena Williams has also reportedly received an invitation.

Others rumoured (but not confirmed) to attend include Rihanna, True Blood star Janina Gavankar and Cara Delevingne.

It’s been reported that two of Prince Harry’s former flames, Cressida Bonas and Chelsy Davy have both scored invites to the big day.

Members of the public

More than 2,640 members of the public have been invited to celebrate the big day in the grounds of Windsor Castle, including 1,200 young people who have served their communities and shown strong leadership.

Harry and Meghan have invited Amy Wright, who works as Chair of Board of Directors for the Usual Place Community Cafe. The charity organisation provides training for young people with special needs between the ages of 16 and 25.

Philip Gillespie from Ballymena has also scored an invite. After losing his right leg in an IED incident in Afghanistan, he now works to raise funds and awareness for ABF The Soldiers’ Charity.

Politicians

Despite the budding friendship made between Prince Harry and Barrack Obama during their work at the Invictus Games, the former president and his wife have been left off the guest list.

“President and Mrs Obama are not coming to the wedding, but the couples look forward to seeing each other soon,” Kensington Palace confirmed

It’s also been confirmed that current President Donald Trump has also not been invited.

They’re not the only politicians left off though after Kensington Palace said they would not require an official list of political leaders, meaning very few politicians are expected to attend.
