Man captures haunting image while alone inside apartment

A haunting image has been captured inside a person’s apartment while his housemates were away, prompting him to pack his bags and move out.

The image, which seems perfectly normal upon first glance, was shared to a subReddit where people discuss ghosts.

“After hearing taps and noises from my kitchen I take a photo and see this,” the Reddit user, OopySpoopyMan, captioned the photo.

If you zoom in on the image to a door at the end of the hall, a faint outline of what looks to be a face or, as some people pointed out, a mask is seen.

The Reddit user then went on to provide more context for those asking in the comments of the thread.

One person asked if OopySpoopyMan felt safe in their home, to which they said they did not feel safe and that they were packing their bags, ready to retreat to their parent’s place.

“For a bit more context, I live with 3 friends but was home alone at the time of the picture,” he said in another comment.

“After taking it I checked the kitchen and found no one. I then checked every room after and no one else was in my house. Front door locked and all windows were shut too. No idea what's happened.”

Someone asked what the noise coming from the kitchen was and OopySpoopyMan said it was like “feet shuffling around, or clothes rubbing against each other”.

In the comments, people had some theories as to what is seen in the picture.

“That’s totally someone wearing a Michael Myers mask,” someone said, referencing the iconic horror movie, Halloween.

While someone else said it was “the flour burglar”, another person had offered a similarly creepy suggestion.

“Maybe check your cupboards and stuff like that,” they said. “It's not unheard of for people to find someone secretly living in their home and being active at night.”

Others were convinced, or hoping, it was a ghost.

“If this isn't fake then you definitely have a ghost,” someone said.

“My inner ghost hunter wants this to be real so bad,” another said.

The original poster did thank those who were concerned for them and said their flatmates were going to remain in the apartment, despite what they saw.

Interestingly, OopySpoopyMan took to Reddit three months ago to ask for advice on Ouija boards, saying they personally do not believe in “ghosts, spirits, afterlife or anything adjacent to those things”.

“However, I am a very curious person, and I do enjoy reading ghosts stories,” OopySpoopyMan said.

“Recently one of my flatmates confessed that they did believe in ghosts and is genuinely afraid of them. I thought that was super interesting, and we talked about it for a little while.”

There is nothing to suggest OopySpoopyMan did try and contact spirits or ghosts using a Ouija board, but perhaps this experience with the kitchen has changed their mind.
