'Something seriously wrong?' Mum, kids 'scared' after cracking nine double-yolked Coles eggs
As far as little wins go, cracking open an egg to find a double yolk is right up there, but one Queensland mum who discovered nine double yolks said she is “too scared” to eat them.
Mariana MacLeod had just purchased a dozen free-range eggs from Coles but was left scratching her head when three quarters of them produced double the goodness.
“Did I just win the food lottery or is there something seriously wrong with these Coles eggs,” she wrote in a Facebook post to the supermarket giant.
“Kids and I are too scared to eat them - but Google says they're perfectly safe and sign of luck.”
Coles responded to Ms MacLeod assuring her that the eggs were “perfectly safe to consume”.
“Thanks for sharing your double yolk discovery, Mariana… we have a 100% satisfaction guarantee on all Coles branded products so please feel free to return with the packaging or your receipt to any store for a full refund or replacement,” Coles replied.
Another woman pointed out just how rare the find was.
"It's lucky to get one double yolker - but 9!!! I'd buy more than 1 lotto ticket, hun!" she wrote.
