WATCH: Highway hoons film their own stupidity - and live to regret it

A group of motorcyclists who filmed themselves on a dangerous high-speed ride in Queensland have had the footage used as evidence against them.

Seven News has exclusively obtained the video footage seized by police showing riders hit speeds of 170 kms/h.

The riders had cameras on their helmets, filming every moment as they swerve around at speed.

Things get faster and faster as the motorcyclists roar through rural areas, overtaking each other and other cars.

"Their behaviour is extremely foolish," Inspector Keith McDonald of Queensland Police said.

"It just makes you feel angry."

The dangerous ride ended when police pulled them over on a road at Redbank Creek, where there have already been two fatalities this year.

"It wouldn't have taken much for these people to have had a fatal accident or a very, very serious injury," Inspector McDonald said.

Police seized the motorcyclists' GoPros, which have now been used as evidence against them.

Police said that what makes the incident even more frustrating is that two of the riders only had one point left on their licences due to prior traffic infringements.

"A driver's licence is a privilege, not a right," Inspector McDonald said.
