Queensland man charged with torturing, assaulting infant boy

A Queensland man will face court accused of brutally torturing and assaulting a three-month-old baby boy.

According to Queensland Police as a result of the alleged torture the child suffered a number of injuries, including fractures to his body.

Detectives from the Gold Coast Child Protection and Investigation Unit have since charged a man over the alleged assault and torture of the infant.

According to police the newborn was transferred to the Gold Coast University Hospital on Tuesday.

A 23-year-old Carrara man has since been charged with assault occasioning bodily harm and torture.

He is due to face Southport Magistrates Court Thursday.

The current condition of the child is not known.
