Girl, 13, raped in broad daylight as she returned from school

A Loganlea man is in custody accused of raping a 13-year-old girl on her way home from school.

Police say the horrific sexual assault in Queensland was a random attack.

The girl was walking home from school on Friday when she was grabbed from behind.

The victim’s mother said her daughter screamed as she was dragged into the bushes.

The attacker, reeking of alcohol, allegedly choked the young girl, threatening to hurt her with a knife if she did not cooperate.

An hour an a half after she was due home, he let her go.

A 28-year-old arrested nearby is facing three counts of rape and one of deprivation of liberty.

The victim’s mother wants other parents to educate their kids about being aware of their surroundings.

Despite the trauma the young victim was able to give police a detailed description of the attacker.

The alleged rapist is due to face court on Monday.
