Australia Zoo's tiger twins turn 1

Australia Zoo's tiger twins Hunter and Clarence have celebrated a special milestone.

The pair were lucky to have some of the trimmings of a first birthday party with their own pinatas and balloons.

Bindi Irwin joined the twins for the affair.

"It's crazy for us because two seconds ago they were these teeny tiny little fluffy babies and now they're a little bit like teenagers," she said.

Bindi said they may be getting some more treats throughout the day.

She said a lot of people think tigers' favourite food is beef but it's actually milk.

"Often the guys will make them these little milk ice block, which are extremely tasty, they're just like a normal ice block. They lick them and they just go crazy, so much like little kids," said Bindi.

The Zoo says it was not only a chance to mark the milestone, but to build awareness of the plight of the Sumatran Tiger.
