Man arrested at Gatton after police chase

A man has been arrested after allegedly leading police on a dramatic chase west of Brisbane.

It began around 9.45am with police being warned to use caution because they thought the man may have been armed.

The vehicle reached speeds of up to 120km/h with police twice rolling out stingers to try and bring the chase to an end.

The 7News helicopter followed the vehicle as it crossed double white lines on numerous occasions and came close to several cars before crashing near Gatton, where the driver fled on foot.

A lone police officer chased the alleged suspect, even wrestling with the man through a wire fence before eventually arresting him.

The offender allegedly tried to take the officer’s gun several times prior to his arrest.
