Popular ALDI item urgently recalled over fire fears
An urgent warning has been issued for a popular vacuum cleaner sold at Aldi over fears a fault could lead to a fire.
Product Safety Australia issued a recall on the Ferrex 1200 W 16 L Wet and Dry Vacuum and warned the plug may overheat during use, causing it to emit sparks, smoke, or catch on fire.
"There is a risk the product may cause a fire which can result in serious injury to the user and other household occupants as well as damage to property," the ACCC warned on Tuesday.
Consumers who have the faulty product should return the recalled item to any ALDI store for a full refund.

Product: Ferrex 1200 W 16 L Wet and Dry Vacuum
Model: NTS16, Date Code 10/2022 (Units marked with a “10/2021” date are not affected)
Product Code: 706650
The date can be found on the rating label. The rating label can be found on top of the unit under the handle.

The product was available for sale in all Australian states and territories between October 8, 2022 and November 17, 2022.
For further information, consumers are advised to contact the ALDI recall helpline on 13 25 34 (Monday to Friday, 8.30 am - 5.30 pm AEST).
Another Aldi vacuum recalled
Previously, the Easy Home Multicyclonic Vacuum Cleaner was recalled, which was sold at Aldi stores from February 5, 2020 to March 3, 2020, and from September 5, 2020 to December 9, 2020.
There are concerns the vacuum’s motor may overheat when the dust filter is blocked, which may result in a fire.
