A vacuum cleaner sold at Aldi stores across Australia has been recalled due to potential fire safety concerns.

The vacuum in question is the Easy Home - Multicyclonic Vacuum Cleaner which was sold at Aldi stores from from February 5, 2020 to March 3, 2020, and from September 5, 2020 to December 9, 2020.

The vacuum cleaners - which come in blue or red - were sold at stores in the ACT, NSW, Queensland, South Australia, Victoria and Western Australia.

“This product can be identified by “BVC-KPA24 / 700175” or “VCK24 / 702119” printed on the rating label located on the underside of the appliance,” the Product Safety Australia recall notice says.

Concerns vacuum cleaner may burst into flames

There are concerns the vacuum’s motor may overheat when the dust filter is blocked, which may result in a fire.

“If a fire occurs, there is a risk of damage to property, serious injury to the user and other household occupants,” the recall notice says.

Product Safety Australia advises customers to return the product to any Aldi store for a full refund.

On Aldi Australia’s recall page, the company says it has “developed stringent standards and undertakes independent quality testing on an ongoing basis to ensure all suppliers meet our own strict specifications”.
