Ex-boyfriend dies in 'deliberate crash' one day before missing dentist's body found in suitcase
Police have confirmed the ex-boyfriend of Sydney dentist Preethi Reddy, whose body was found stuffed in a suitcase last night, died in a collision with a truck a day after she went missing.
Investigators found Preethi Reddy dead in her own car on Strachan Lane in Kingsford about 9.30pm on Tuesday, having been stabbed “numerous times”.
Detectives believe Dr Reddy stayed at a hotel on Market Street on Sunday with a man known to her, understood to be her ex-boyrfriend.
They have since discovered that he died in a head-on collision on the New England Highway at Willow Tree, in the Upper Hunter, about 10pm on Monday.
“Detectives … are investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision, which is believed to be a deliberate act,” police said in a statement.
Dr Reddy was reported missing on Sunday night after she failed to return home following a dental convention, at St Leonards over the weekend. It’s understood her ex-boyfriend also attended the event.
She was captured on CCTV inside McDonald’s at the Strand Arcade in Sydney’s CBD about 2.15am on Sunday and appeared to leave alone.
She last spoke with her family about 11am later that morning, saying she planned to head home after having a late breakfast, police said.
