Man accused of flushing grandparents' ashes down toilet for revenge on mum

A 33-year-old man who was upset with his mother for kicking him out of her house, is accused of flushing his grandparents’ ashes down the toilet in an act of revenge.

The mother of Thomas Porter Wells, of Pittsburgh, US, was fed up with her adult son’s drinking and smoking marijuana, and asked him to leave her home, where he had been staying temporarily, police records state.

Before Wells left, he allegedly sought revenge by removing a box from his mother Denise Porter’s bedroom, where she kept a memorial of her dead parents.

The box contained the ashes of the woman’s late mother and father, police records state.

The woman told police on April 19 she learned through a relative that Wells admitted to flushing the ashes of his grandparents down the toilet before leaving his mother’s home last September, according to the report.

In a phone call with his mother, Wells allegedly denied flushing the ashes but later sent her a text message saying: “Yep and soon as you die you’ll be going in the same spot where you belong down the s***ter you b***h.”

Wells faces two counts of abuse of a corpse, and one count of criminal mischief.

Following a court appearance on Monday, Wells was free on non-monetary bond.

He is due to return to court for a preliminary hearing scheduled on May 13, according to Pittsburg news outlet TribLive.
