'Pile of trash': Sixers fume over Ben Simmons-Kendall Jenner claims

A stunning report that claimed Ben Simmons missed a 76ers game in March because he was out partying with Kendall Jenner has been rubbished as a ‘steaming pile of trash’.

The report from the New York Daily News has since backtracked on the Jenner claims, but alleges that Simmons didn’t actually have a stomach virus as reported.

The report claims “a source close to the team” told them Simmons was partying on Miami Beach the night before the game against the Magic, and originally said he was with girlfriend Jenner.

However that was later corrected, stating Jenner was actually at Kanye West’s Sunday Service in LA, while Simmons’ supposed partying was in Orlando.

Simmons bristled when asked about the report on Tuesday.

“You’re talking about the regular season?” Simmons replied, as quoted by Fox Sports.

“We’re talking about playoffs, man. It’s playoffs right now.”

The report also claims coach Brett Brown had lost the locker room, and that 76ers general manager Elton Brand said the Sixers should consider trading Simmons.

Brown said he hadn’t read the report.

“I am aware of it,” he said. “I have not read it and I won’t. I have nothing to say about it.”

However Sixers Vice President Dave Sholler wasn’t as reserved.

“This is one of the most irresponsible hack jobs I’ve ever seen in more than a decade of working in sports,” he tweeted in response to the story.

“Factual inaccuracies, made-up stories, and references to convos that never happened.

“This is a steaming pile of trash. Steaming. Pile.”

Simmons and the 76ers continue their playoff series with the Brooklyn Nets on Thursday, locked at 1-1.

The Aussie starred in Game 2 with a triple double as the Sixers levelled the series.
