Footage of gunshot victim's desperate attempt to flee as he clutches wound
Alarming footage shows a gunshot victim hobbling along a street clutching a gunshot wound, desperately trying to flee.
Gui Jun Zhou, 48, faced Liverpool Courthouse on Monday, accused of shooting Fred Ushakov in the hip.
Police believe he knew the victim and said Sunday afternoon's shooting was a targeted attack.
The footage shows the gunshot victim hobbling along a Canley Heights street.
Three men follow close behind, running after the 29-year-old who had just been shot, in the middle of the afternoon.
Somehow, Mr Ushakov made it two blocks to resident Ben Ashorion's house.
"He had been shot from that street and tried to run out to escape in our house," the witness told 7 News.
"The person was lying down very quiet. He was very quiet, kind of in shock."
A young boy who witnessed the confronting scene said the victim left a trail of blood behond him.
"Blood drops went all the way down there to where the suspects were."
Nearby, police tracked down the two other men allegedly involved.
They allegedly refused to co-operate with police and have been charged.
The court heard Jun Zhou's criminal record was littered with firearms offences.
His lawyer argued for him to get bail, claiming he needed treatment for a nerve issue in his back.
But Magistrate Shane McAnulty refused his application, telling him there was a medical facility at Long Bail jail.
He has been remanded in custody based on his lengthy criminal record.
"He's got more firearms offences on his record than I've had hot breakfasts," magistrate McAnulty told Jun Zhou's lawyer.
Mr Ushakov was admitted to the Liverpool Hospital's trauma unit on Sunday with gunshot wounds to his right hip.
Luckily, the bullet missed the victim's bone and major arteries.
He is now in a stable condition and expected to make a full recovery.
Jun Zhou will be back in court in May.
