ARIA hall of fame member Renee Geyer in court over racist hotel rant

Australian singer Renee Geyer has been placed on a one-year good behaviour bond over an abusive, racial rant aimed at a Sydney hotel receptionist.

The soul singer avoided a conviction in court on Friday after calling Florence Tivoli a "f***ing b****" and a "Tongan b****" when asked to provide her vehicle registration for parking in September 2015.

The court heard Geyer also pushed a stationery holder and EFTPOS machine onto the floor, causing the hotel staff member to cry and fear for her safety.

Documents show the 63-year-old had been removed from the Haymarket hotel by police the night before but returned and launched into her spray.

"You caused me and my group a lot of grief, I know who you are, I'm going to come back and get you," the ARIA Hall of Fame member said, according to the facts.

"Calling the police was a joke, they're not going to charge me,” she told the staff member.

During the racist rant, Geyer's target hid in a corner behind the reception desk.

"The victim feared she was going to be harmed," court papers state.

Magistrate Graeme Curran sentenced Geyer on Friday, after she pleaded guilty to a charge of intimidation last October.

It was not the first time Geyer has been in court.

In 2011, she avoided a criminal conviction for careless driving after two car crashes in her home city of Melbourne.
