Two three-year-old boys dragged from pools during heat wave

Two three-year-old Sydney boys remain in hospital on Wednesday night after nearly drowning during the scorching heat wave.

Emergency services were called to a home on June Street, Seven Hills, about 12pm after the young boy was found unresponsive in a backyard swimming pool.

Little Zac Daniels had been in an above ground pool, on a float when he apparently slipped off it and into the water.

CPR was performed at the scene by neighbours and continued when NSW Ambulance paramedics arrived.

CareFlight also attended the scene and a spokesman said the child was unconscious for an unknown, short period of time.

"Joining NSW Ambulance paramedics at the scene, CareFlight's specialist doctor and intensive care paramedic intubated the boy and placed him in an induced coma to stabilise him," a CareFlight Statement said.

"The medical crew accompanied the patient by road ambulance to the Children’s Hospital at Westmead, where he remains in a critical condition."

A clearly upset man could later be seen slashing the pool with a knife to empty it, while Zac's distraught grandmother was left speechless outside the hospital.

"My little baby... unbelievable," an emotional Irena Ekes told 7 News.

Officers from Blacktown Local Area Command will investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Meanwhile a second boy was also brought to the same hospital after he was dragged from a local pool in Liverpool.

Both boys are expected to make full recoveries.
