There's been the worst possible end to the search for a Sydney flight attendant.
The body of the missing Sydney flight attendant, Benjamin Roper, was found in the basement of his Randwick home in Sydney's eastern suburbs.
The 32-year-old Virgin cabin crew member was reported missing after he was last seen on Australia Day.
Ben's mother, Michelle Pippen, arrived in Australia yesterday and said her son had been receiving homophobic threats.
Mr Roper had been suffering from severe back pain was heavily medicated at the time of his disappearance.
Yesterday, Ms Pippen described her son as a happy, popular and fit 32-year-old.
Mr Roper's family and police have thanked the public and the media for help in trying to locate him.
So too has the administrator of the Facebook page 'Help Us Find Benny', which received more than 4,000 likes in days.
"I would like to take this opportunity to thank each and everyone of you for you concern help and prayers," the administrator wrote.
"Today is a sad day for us as we have lost one of the world's greatest individual. It's time to grieve but also celebrate the wonderful person we knows and loved."
"We made him famous and I'm sure he is living every minute being the dramatic person he was... No doubt he is twirling up in heaven and rocking out to Gaga."
Sydney celebrities like comedian Julia Morris, Iron Woman Candice Falzon and Manly Sea Eagle Anthony Watmough, added their weight to the social media campaign to to help find Ben.
Police say his death is not suspicious.
