NSW orders immediate isolation for anyone arriving from Victoria

Travellers who have arrived in New South Wales from Victoria since Wednesday’s border closure will be forced to self isolate immediately.

Anyone who re-entered the state after visiting the state riddled with coronavirus outbreaks are required to stay at home for a two-week quarantine period, or until they’ve had a coronavirus test.

The two-week period begins from the day of entry to NSW.

More than 50,000 people crossed the border from Victoria into NSW before closures came into affect on Wednesday.

South Australia will also embark on a COVID-19 testing blitz, targeting anyone recently returned from Victoria as well as anybody with symptoms of the virus.

The move follows the hard closure of the border between the two states and comes amid growing concern over the spike in coronavirus cases in Melbourne.
