'Next time it will be smashed': Man who left threatening note on ambulance arrested

A man has been arrested after he allegedly left a furious note on an ambulance at the scene of a medical emergency, threatening the vehicle would be “smashed”.

Paramedics from the London Ambulance Service were treating a patient who had suffered a critical heart problem at a nearby property in Tower Hamlets, east London.

Posting the note on Twitter, police from Tower Hamlets wrote: “This was left on @Ldn_Ambulance after they were dealing with a cardiac arrest patient! Needless to say one is in custody now. #DTeam.”

The note was scrawled in green ink on a piece of A4 people and written in capitals, warning paramedics of the consequences of parking in the spot.

“WARNING THIS IS A PRIVATE PARKING SPACE NEXT TIME IT WILL BE SMASHED,” the note stated.

The Metropolitan Police said police were called to Westferry Road at 3am after receiving reports of a disturbance.

A 38-year-old man was subsequently arrested on suspicion of a public order offence and taken to an east London police station.

Natasha Wills, London Ambulance Services’ assistant director of operations, said in a statement seriously ill and injured patients needed to be prioritised, and ambulance officers needed to get to the scene safely and quickly.

“We try to cause minimal disruption when parking at the scene but unfortunately this isn’t always possible,” she said.

“It is never acceptable for our crews to be verbally or physically abused or assaulted while treating patients and we will always push for the highest possible sentence.”

The latest threat comes after a woman was fined earlier this year for leaving a violent note on an ambulance in Stoke-on-Trent.

Kirsty Sharman, 26, told paramedics to “move your f***king van” and said she “couldn’t give a s*** if the entire road collapsed”.

It is believed that she was later evicted from her home.
