'Drunk' police officer caught 'having sex with colleague at work'

A female police officer and a male sergeant have been stripped of their badges and guns after they were caught in a drunken rendezvous while on the job.

NYPD lieutenant Brandi Sanchez, 39, and Sergeant Lambros Gavalas, 46, were allegedly found having “sexual interactions” in a bathroom inside a building being used by the NYPD on Saturday night (local time).

Ms Sanchez reportedly lives with and has a child with the commanding officer of Brooklyn’s 79th Precinct, Deputy Inspector Timothy Skretch, but the man she was allegedly discovered with was not him.

The NYPD did not deny the allegations and told the New York Post the incident was under internal review.

According to a department report obtained by the Post, another NYPD sergeant first noticed Sanchez and Gavalas “occupying a closed stall, apparently engaged in what were believed to be sexual interactions”, with five minutes left on the lieutenant’s shift.

The sergeant who allegedly found the pair reported the incident to a department lieutenant.

This lieutenant then went to the bathroom to confront the couple and had to ask them to leave a number of times before Gavalas left without saying a word, according to DailyMail.com.

Sanchez remained in the bathroom stall, where she was found “exposed, intoxicated and uncooperative”.

The pair have both been placed on modified duty while investigations continue.
