The new Australian airport feature that may greatly improve your travel

Perth airport has introduced sleeping pods, allowing international and domestic travellers to have a nap between flights.

Eight pods have been installed in the T1 precinct, in partnership with Finnish company GoSleep and SmarteCarte.

The pods include a chair which is similar to a business class flat bed and a moveable shade to provide privacy.

They include hand luggage storage under the chair and USB and GPO plugs for laptops or phone charging inside the pod.

“As Australia’s Western Hub, passengers connect their flights in a variety of ways, many of
those with a short stopover,” Perth Airport CEO Kevin Brown said.

“These sleeping pods provide them and the broader travelling public with a place to relax in comfort.”

The pods come with pillows, blankets and hang luggage storage under the beds. They also have a shade to provide privacy while travellers rest.

The pods can be booked online for $12 an hour, with special rates for longer stays.

The pods are located in 15 international airports, according to GoSleep CEO Jussi Piispanen, while Perth airport is the first airport in Australia to introduce the pods.
