Mum-of-two vanishes while camping with boyfriend on small island

A mum-of-two has disappeared without a trace in mysterious circumstances while on a camping trip with her boyfriend.

Alison MacKenzie, 43, was on a three-day tour with her partner, aged 58, and a group of 15 people and three crew members on a small island called Rendezvous Caye, in Belize, a small nation on the east coast of Central America.

In a statement released by Raggamuffin Tours, the company running the tour, it was revealed the woman was understood to have gone missing early on the morning of January 19.

“Raggamuffin Tours Limited is cooperating fully with law enforcement officers in their investigation into this incident,” the statement read.

It said the company had handed over “comprehensive details of all passengers and met with our crew” to Belize police to assist in their investigation into the woman’s whereabouts.

Ms Mackenzie’s mum took to Facebook for answers, claiming the institutions involved with finding her daughter had given her inconsistent stories.

“We have received three different stories about what happened that morning. None of them consistent with the others,” Cherie Mackenzie wrote.

“We are getting no where finding out where she is. It has been 48 hours now, and not only missing, but feared no longer alive.

She pleaded with others on the tour to get in touch with her in the hope they have some information.

“We have no idea where in the world they may live. But we are praying if enough people send this around, someone who knows something will contact me,” she wrote.

“My whole family is beyond devastated, it just doesn’t seem real. Her two daughters are past being consoled. They have lost their mother and best friend.

“I want her home with us, no matter how she may be found. I want my daughter back.”

The island is only about an acre in size and has little in the way of trees and other plant life.
