Moment police chase ends with car rolling and ejecting driver
WARNING – GRAPHIC IMAGES: A driver has miraculously survived after being violently ejected from a car during a wild police chase.
Dashcam footage taken by officers in the US state of South Carolina shows a number of police cars attempting to pull over a woman in an SUV on July 12.
She evades officers and manoeuvres through police cars closing in on her from the front and back, leading them on a pursuit that lasted more than 15 minutes.
At one point the car comes to a stop in a carpark to let a passenger out, but the driver flees before police can get to her.
The driver leads police through the carpark, a caravan park and along a busy highway. Officers even ram her in an attempt to stop her.
Florence County Police said in a statement the pursuit eventually ended when the car spun out of control and rolled several times.
The footage shows the driver being flung from the car, landing on the road. Debris is scattered around her as the car drops to the ground. Officers rush to help her as she is motionless next to the car wreckage.
The woman, named by US news station WPDE as 24-year-old Brittany Jeffords, was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Several police cars were damaged during the pursuit.
